Each Barbie that I make comes from an image in my mind. Sometimes they come out of random and at other times they come when I am making one, I see a particular fabic, notion, or trinkets. I develop and envelop my ideas and then place them in a drawing. More times than not the drawing takes on changes as I begin making them.
Satisfaction in Creating
The satisfaction comes in the creating. I began making Barbie clothes when i was very young. This is where I learned to sew. I started again less than a year ago. My eldest daughter very much encouraged me to begin. Within a few months, she died from COVID, so I continued in her honor. I have made 9 others since her passing. They take sometimes up to a month to make. It has most definitely been the best therapy for me. I also have a 7 year old who loves them.
