Making Cherry Limeade

So, a few of my latest ones have been very different. This one was born by my seeing the fabric. It reminded me of cherry limeade. Another cool deal was that the fabric and tulle lining, I guess, were not favorite products, and it was super ON SALE! I went on an online hunt for cherry and lime buttons. FOUND THEM!!! I began with the bodice. I gather a lot, but I have not used elastic yet on any of them. I wanted her to have a Hispanic look, so I put elastic around the neckline and the sleeves and fastened the front with lime buttons. It was quite simple. I then made the tulle underskirt and fastened that to the bodice. The skirt didn't quite have the effect that I was looking for - I wanted a more pleated look, BUT, I DO like how she turned out. The waist of the skirt does have pleats that I ironed into the skirt, but once I draped it around the tulle, it went POOFY!!! LOL! But that's ok. I'll save the pleats for another time.
The back is absolutely precious. You can see the elastic gathering really well around the neck. Her sleeves are embellished with cherries as well as the ribbon on the back. I wanted to do something with the waist, so I went to my ribbon box and WOW, I found the perfect color and design. The many benefits of having too MUCH! LOL! O do something very different with her hair by adding a hair net around her bun. Again, I will make one blog about hair later. I like her!
