Read all the Books

I just couldn't wait to get her up here! She's perfect! So, with all of the talk about banned books, I decided to do a book theme. Of course she is called Read All the Books. I just love her. I got the idea when I saw this fabric that has many of the classics on it. I wanted to have her sitting while reading so I searched for a posable doll. I am not too much of a fan of them, but she definitely works for this. She looks so cozy with her real book in her hands. The book has actual fables in it. Too tiny for my eyes, but my daughter can read it. LOL.

As I said, I found this fabric, so I ordered some tulle, the book, the glasses and a few of the buttons. I already had the lace and the little bag that holds her books, so she was very inexpensive to make. I began with the bodice. I wanted her to look rather youthful so I gave her the puffy sleeves. I added some pretty trim around the top of the bodice.

When I got to the skirt, I wanted to make sure, because she is sitting, that the skirt didn't overwhelm her so there is very little tulle. I cut the skirt in a circle so that when she sat, it would drape all around her and we can see the book theme on the fabric. Her hair is simple - placed in a side pony tail dolled with a tiny hat that has a book pin.
