Strawberry Fields Forever! I Understood the Assignment!

Updated: Apr 19, 2022

So on the Barbie sewing group that I am in, there was an assignment to make a fruit outfit. I am so into dresses, that of course, I had to make a foofy dress. LOL. She is a Strawberry Princess. When the activity was posted, I immediately went to find the right fabric. One of my favorite fruits (besides mangoes -OOOO a Mango Barbie- LOL), is the strawberry. So I went to digging for the right trims and beads/buttons. She did not take me long at all. I began her on Easter Eve and finished her Easter evening. She has a strawberry tulle underskirt and the material was bulky so the skirt stands out tremendously without too much tulle. She is trimmed at the bottom with a strawberry trim, and in one of the pictures, she has the same trim around her waist. I'm not sure which I like better - the pink glitter belt or the strawberry trim around her waist. I love that the skirt does not go to the ground. Such a sweet tea party look.

Her bodice is very basic lust wrapped around her. darted and then sewn tightly to her. I was going to leave it sleeveless, but I am not a fan of strapless dresses. I took some of the tulle that was left over and sort of draped it around her shoulders and back. I liked it so I left it and added a few stitches. With another piece, I made sort of an arm scarf. It is attached at her wrists and then draped around her shoulders. The headpieces is just a gathered piece of the dress material and tulle. In the middle of it are strawberry buttons. Now all I have to do is find her some strawberry earrings. I may have some. I've got to look.
